Reviews of Valentine
Review by www.sandinmytoes.com
If you’re looking for the perfect chick-lit beach-read, slip-slap-slop and dive straight into the life of Valentine. Living in London, Valentine Fleming is a struggling actress on a long and turbulent journey to find her big break. Along the vodka-and-rocky road, she is torn between three men, Finn, her ex who she wishes wasn’t, Jack her new leading man who wishes he was and Piers her newly discovered father who just happens to be a film director with a string of box office hits.
Valentine and her best friend Lauren live in a shabby flat spending their money on what every 20-something who has lived in London does…drink, chocolate and peanut butter. When she does land a prominent role in a London play her sexy leading man provides an opportunity to forget about her two-timing ex and bathe in a newly discovered happiness, but true to form, a host of obstacles intervene in the form of jealous exes, bitch-from-hell love rivals and an OCD step mother.
Very now, very ‘Facebook’, you are sure to recognise the characters and their exploits, their friends, their lovers, their one-nighters, their exes and their ‘if only’s. Fast-paced and energetic, Valentine’s life will keep you hooked and unlike a lot of chick-lits, you really are never quite sure how it’s going to end.
Long enough to see you through from the airport lounge to the poolside bar and back again, you will want to give Valentine a hug, you will want to tell her off, you will want to shout at her, but most of all you will want to have a good girlie chat with a large cocktail in your hand.
